Bear Cole's "Alabaster" - A Melodic Journey Through the Highs and Lows of Life
After years of producing dance music, Bear Cole has ventured into new territory with his latest release, Alabaster. Rather than releasing another high-energy dance track, Cole has released a deeply introspective, emotionally charged album that explores the various facets of life. Released via 1st Drop Music, Alabaster demonstrates Cole's versatility as an artist by incorporating elements of singer-songwriter, electronic pop, country and Americana.
A Whole New Musical World
Originating from Flagstaff, Arizona, Bear Cole has developed a reputation for providing high-octane performances behind the decks and producing infectious dance tracks. However, with Alabaster, he explores the realm of storytelling and emotional expression. Alabaster is a mosaic of life's joys and heartbreaks; it captures the very essence of human experience.
The Sound of Alabaster
Alabaster distinguishes itself with its diverse collection of genres. The opening tracks are characterized by melancholy melodies and lyrical content reminiscent of classic Americana and country. Cole's rootsy guitar playing and soulful vocals are accompanied by contemporary electronic pop production, creating a sound that is both reminiscent of the past and futuristic. Ultimately, Alabaster is a collection of songs that are profoundly individualistic yet universally relatable.
Themes of Life and Death
At its core, Alabaster is an album about the human condition. Bear Cole explores themes related to love, loss and the passage of time. Songs including "Alabaster" and "Holy Spirit" address the inevitability of change and the bittersweet nature of life and death. Cole's lyrics are introspective, providing listeners with insight into his personal experiences while inviting them to consider their own.
A Personal Journey
For Bear Cole, Alabaster is much more than a new musical project; it represents a personal journey. "I've always been passionate about telling stories through music," Cole states. "With Alabaster, I wanted to create something that resonates on a deeper level, something that captures the complexities of our emotions and experiences. I had been in a very dark space in life and wanted to make something more encompassing. Happy, Dark, Sad, and Light. I also just really miss love songs in today's popular music. I wanted to add a hearty amount of romance and love to the mix."
The Future of Bear Cole
Alabaster represents a pivotal moment in Bear Cole's career. It represents his continued growth as an artist. Although this album moves away from the dance floor, his ability to produce compelling music remains as strong as ever.
