Flower Power: A New Americana Sound from the High Country

Sagebrush & The Little Flowers, Bear Cole’s roots music identity, has dropped its debut album "Flower Power," an honest and original contribution to the Americana/Indie Country scene. Based in Flagstaff, Arizona, Sagebrush & The Little Flowers express the beauty, culture, and storytelling spirit of the Southwest through each song. "Flower Power" was produced by Bear Cole (a singer/songwriter), and was released by 1st Drop Music. The album serves as a musical love letter to the people and places of the Southwest.

A Mix of Country, Folk, Bluegrass, R&B Soul, and Celtic/Electronic Inflections

"Flower Power" combines the best aspects of American Roots music -- Country, Folk, Bluegrass, R&B Soul, and even subtle hints of Celtic/Electronic influences.

As a result, the album has a nostalgic quality while still sounding fresh; it's rooted in tradition but also contains elements of innovation. The instrumentation includes acoustic guitar, mandolin, and banjo, while thoughtful and poetic lyrics cover topics such as love, nature, resilience, and simplicity. The songs range from those that lend themselves well to front-porch sing-alongs to soulful ballads ideal for reflective drives through desert canyons. The music represents the diversity of the project’s sonic palette. It is easy to listen to, genuine, and based on the daily experiences of living in rural and high-elevation areas.

Influenced by a Variety of American Musical Traditions

Sagebrush & The Little Flowers take inspiration from artists such as Willie Nelson, Kacey Musgraves, Tyler Childers, Ben Harper, and The SteelDrivers.

However, their sound is distinctively theirs -- influenced by the multiculturalism and rebellion inherent in the American Southwest. Bear Cole stated: "Sagebrush & The Little Flowers is an American Roots music project. It is also a my roots project. For that reason you will hear elements of Hip-Hop, Electronic, and R&B Soul sprinkled in... If we are going to really make American Roots music—it is going to incorporate much more of the Southwest and America’s diverse musical soundscape." ~ Bear Cole This deliberate incorporation of different genres and cultures into "Flower Power" provides it with depth and allows it to resonate with audiences of all ages and musical tastes.

A Waterfall Release: Music That Continues to Grow Over Time

"Flower Power" is more than just an album -- it is a continuously evolving experience. The album was released using a waterfall/snowball method, meaning that additional tracks will be added periodically. Fans are encouraged to check back frequently to see how the album evolves -- reflecting 1st Drop Music's commitment to allowing artists creative freedom and utilizing organic release methods. This process reflects the natural environment that inspires Sagebrush & The Little Flowers -- an album that develops like wildflowers after a Northern Arizona rainfall.

More Than Music -- A Movement Based in Location and Purpose

With "Flower Power," Sagebrush & The Little Flowers are doing more than simply writing and recording songs. The music is centered around storytelling, sound, and a spiritual connection to the land. Through their music, they celebrate not only the genre of Americana but also the forgotten voices of the high deserts, pine forests, and reservation-adjacent communities of the Southwest. Whether you are a devoted follower of roots music or someone new to the genre seeking something authentic and emotionally fulfilling, "Flower Power" is definitely worth listening to.
