Palindrome – Indrid Coald (lyric video)

What if the future that we’ve been promised is going to take us back? Watch the official lyric video for “Palindrome” by Arizona Alternative Rock artist Indrid Coald, released via 1st Drop Music. “Palindrome” builds upon the foundation of “Monetized,” creating an intense mixture of distorted guitar, arpeggiated synth, heavy guitar riffs, and frantic drumming styles heavily influenced by Drum & Bass, 90’s Breakbeat, Industrial Music, Punk, and Alternative Metal. A palindrome reads the same both ways. In “Palindrome,” this concept is a warning. We are continually told that we are moving forward; that new systems, shifts in power, and promises of progress will lead us to a brighter future.

However, what happens when the future being sold to us is pushing us backward? Based on the repeating battle cry: “Flex your power on my home
Your future is a palindrome
Fuck everything you say
Fuck everything away” The lyrics were designed to be very simple. Very repetitive. Very confrontational. A warning repeated until someone hears it. Influenced by the mythology of the mysterious Grinning Man and the unsettling world of the Mothman, Indrid Coald is a symbolic messenger who stands at the threshold of a rapidly changing world. He does not predict the future. He points out the warnings that are already hidden in plain sight. He does not tell you what to believe. He does not provide easy answers. He only asks whether the future that we are creating is truly moving us forward.

Another message has arrived. The smiling messenger is still observing. The warning continues. Welcome back to the world of Indrid Coald. —
